🦎 Core Concepts

Lineage

The recorded ancestry of a reptile, including parents (sire/dam) and extended generations. Central to building trust and verifying genetic history.

Pedigree

A structured visualization of lineage across multiple generations. In ReptiDex, pedigrees are generated dynamically and can be branded or shared.

Genetics / Alleles

The genetic traits passed down through breeding. ReptiDex uses an allele-based system to track morphs and genetic combinations.

Morph

A reptile’s genetic or visual variation (e.g., “Lilly White,” “Pinstripe”). Morphs are often the key value drivers for breeders and buyers.

Sire / Dam

  • Sire: Male parent in a breeding.
  • Dam: Female parent in a breeding.
